R&S SCHOOL

How to become a R&S school

Get your school recognized by the Jane Goodall Institute

Become an official Roots & Shoots School!

Does your school want to play an active role in protecting our planet and creating a better future? The Roots & Shoots School Label recognizes schools that are committed to sustainable change and making a real difference!

R&S school label criteria

To qualify for this prestigious label, we ask schools to:

  • Have knowledge of Jane Goodall, her pioneering work and her mission.
  • Have been attending R&S workshops regularly for at least 2 years (at least one workshop for all classes and grade levels).
  • Have set up at least one sustainable project in the school linked to one or more of our workshops themes
  • Have one or more active Roots & Shoots groups (inside and/or outside the school) conducting an APE project (Animals, People, Environment).
  • Have participated in at least one outdoor activity, such as tree planting, clean-up, bird house building or insect hotels.

Award ceremony

Each school that meets the criteria will receive a beautiful round wooden plaque with the JGI logo to display proudly around the school!

You will also have the chance to take part in our annual awards ceremony. The most involved and committed schools have a chance to win fantastic gifts for students, classes and teachers. You may even have the unique opportunity to meet Jane in person!
